a literary journal

WELCOME

Before you read on, please check out the ad for our next launch: pressed volume 8. If it doesn't inspire you to show up, get out a magnifying glass and think again. And if you're in another country, we understand—just make sure you eat everything on your plate.

AND NOW. .  .

Thank you for stumbling upon (or have found yourself lured back into) pressed, A Literary Journal. Feel free to delve into and frolic about this site and let your mind knead through its musings as it finally nestles into the more tantalizing possibilities of its creative nature. Please take your time: you can’t merely gloss over what you’ve been more than likely drawn to enjoy in the first place.

HISTORY

pressed has been thrumming through the noggins of the literarily inclined for four years now. What had at first begun as a smart and humble A4 formatted Word Perfect-ed pastiche of creative cut-and-paste has since reckoned itself into a force whose boundaries have found no limit but for the grace of Zeus, divined out of word-of-mouth and good ol' fashioned give-a-damn.

From our humble beginnings in a straw hut nestled amongst the dew-dolloped trees of Taiwan, offering up sweaty dog-eared photocopies to those steely enough to seek us out, we have since made our mark on that country's creative mindset with an eventual national print run of 5000 critically acclaimed juggernauts of fictional, poetic and visual mastercraft! Well, that's not so much the truth as is is an aspiration (the juggernaut and mastercraft bit, so please bear with us). Yet, it is with this self-promoting fanfare that we invite you join us in celebrating our new place in the Australian publishing arena.

Yes, pressed has propelled itself south to Queensland, Australia to take up shop and sidle beside/learn from/work with the creative crowd down yonder. We've already begun to make friends with some very interesting, erudite, and visionary individuals—so volume 8 of pressed just may be the literary harbinger it was destined to be.

We hope you're as excited as we are, and if you'd like to join in on pressed's new tenure in Australia, all submissions are to be sent to
